I have a lane cedar chest, i have the serial number and make of the chest..any ideas on how i can figure out how old this chest is?

Look up the company It is made by, odds are they only produced furniture for a certain amount of years. Unless they are still in business. If they have gone out of business figure what years they made furniture in and judging by the style of it you can get a pretty good estimate of how old it is. IF it was a big company they probably have historic records of which serial numbers were made at which time. This is how they date a lot of old singer sewing machines. IF you have no luck do some research on fuirniture styles throughout the decades certain features are prominent in certain decades. IE they made the legs of furniture one way in the 30’s but entirely different in the 50’s. Hope this helps.
