I recently purchased an antique chest of drawers and the drawers in it have a musty odor. Bad enough where I cannot put anything it it because the smell transfers. I have tried putting dry baking soda and letting it set but it doesn't help. Any suggestions??
In response to the mothballs or cedar, do you leave them in there permanently or just for a period of time?
Spray the drawers with white vinegar and let dry. This should take care of your problem!

Take each drawer out and clean them with an all purpose cleaner. Wipe dry then use lemon pledge on em. Wipe that out and smell……Pretty nice eh?

wipe the drawers with a damp cloth and allow to dry then add small bundles of lavender which should remain in the drawers when in use. good luck

Take each drawer out and lightly sand them. If it still has an odor try applying (using the rag method) some oil from an oil diffuser. Those are the ones that you can buy to set out in your house to make your house smell good (vanilla, gardenia, fresh linen, etc). If you've ever noticed the reeds are wood and they soak up the scent and smell good. This will work for your dresser as well.
Hope this helps, Good Luck!

Try putting the drawers into the sun for a day and letting the sun help.
Good luck
