I read an article yesterday about mexico becoming a security risk and how gang and drug cartels are getting out of control.
In India they had the same problem. In Mumbai (Bombay), there was a serious gang crime problem in the 1990's. The response was to form dozens of small cells of officers called "encounter squads." Each encounter squad was armed with Chinese SKS clones (automatic rifle), a vest with iron plate over the chest, and a 9mm handgun.
They would dress casual, and lurk in areas with known criminal activity. Then upon sight of criminal action, they would burst forward and gun down all the participants. These shootings were always ruled justified by the coroner, because the coroner understood the process.
In the first 100 days of encounter squads, over 2,400 enemies were gunned down, and crime plunged.
India still has this policy today and it's working well so far. One of the police official has alone encountered 105 criminals in his 20 years as a encounter specialist.
If this things doesn't stop then we are in trouble because this drug cartels will spread into united states.
no one was afraid to walk outside. the only people who had to worry were the criminals. and this has nothing similar with hitler because hitler had all the power but in this no single person has all the power.
hmm

LOL. Maybe that would work in a corruption free world. The fact is the killer cops are working for one gang or the other.
Actually, there are stories that Mexico is doing this kind of thing already. We probably won't know the extent for a few years.

that is WAY messed up
there is no way to prevent accidents
you're putting 100% of the power into cops' hands
what if they just see someone they hate?
they could just shoot anyone they like
of course crime will plunge, if people are afraid to walk around outside
but that's not the right way to fight crime
that IS crime

Hitler did the very same thing and 'crime' as they knew it virtually disappeared. Unfortunately state crimes overwhelmed the country- and history is the result. All the same I wouldn't mind the intelligent use of some form of Special Forces to deal with Mexican corruption which seems to be institutional and extend well beyond their 'borders'. I doubt that we have the intelligence to effect such change.

I personally find this absurd. This is the policy of a police state.
If you want to fight drug cartels, the best way to do this is legalization and substance control. The benefits to this are overwhelmingly productive for a society and the money derived can go to educational programs.
This is purposely done to create a criminal class. The middle class than asks for protection and a class system is born. The top continually cheats the bottom who erupt in violence and criminal act and the system becomes self perpetuating.
To place police with weapons and immunity into our communities is one step from total control.

You know… i think the cartels in Mexico are way more organized and heavy than we imagine. This people are professionals, I have seen the pictures of bodies with very tight shot groups from AK-47 rifles,(and AKs are not super accurate) they have access to way better weapons and as far as know they have some sort of boot camp training and not everybody makes the cut, they are pretty much para-military but 'bad guys' at the same time. Trust me on this one, some vigilantes with a sad 9mm gun ain't gonna stop these fellas. As a matter of fact I think they would give the US Army a run for their money (and I am a soldier) given the fact that it would be a guerrilla warfare.
