My horse is 71 inches from the middle of her chest the middle of her tail. She is 1 1/5 years old so she still has lots of growing to do. How big of a blanket can I get for her? I don't want it too big, but I want it to last a while. What size should I get?
Since she's still very young don't go out buying a nice blanket as she'll grow out of it pretty soon. I'd go for a ballpark around 72 or 75, it might be to big for her, but as long as it's not falling off her she'll be fine….also depends what kind of blanket that your talking about. They range in sizes.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackHorses are usually done growing by the time they are a year old. You should be good with whatever size you can get that will fit her now. At least, by the time they are a year they are as tall as they will get. Muscle development is another thing.

I would get her a 76'' for now. That way it has a little bit of growing room. If you get a insulator or liner blanket to go under it, it will prevent rubs until she grows into it a little more. You might be able to get away with a little smaller too but I would for sure go a size or two bigger then her actual size!

I would say a 74 inch blanket would do for now, maybe even go for a 76 inch, if you want to leave some growing room, but it sounds like your horse is about done. Just make sure you research what your horse would be more comfortable in, and the types of clasps that are on your blanket. I've had one to many problems with chaffing on my horse.
