I have gotten a big box and laid a blanket down in it. Should i do more ? Or what?
I would put something on the top of the blanket that can be washed … like a towel.
also be careful of the blanket because some of the babies can get under it and the mom can't find them… and they will die.
I used a sheet until after the kittens are born then changed to a blanket. (make all the edges solid/ folded… so there is no opening for the babies to crawl under.
good luck

You've done almost all you need. When she's almost about to have her kittens and is spending a lot of time in her box (or wherever she's chosen to have them), put a bowl of water in there, but not a tall one, so she can still drink while she's laying down. While she's having her kittens she could get dehydrated, and that way she won't have to get up and leave her kittens to get a drink. Also put a small handful of food by her, but make sure her kittens don't try to eat it, or they will choke. The rest she SHOULD be able to do herself, but if this is her first litter and she's having trouble cleaning them, take a warm washcloth and wipe off the kittens faces so they don't suffocate. Just give her a lot of love and attention while she's nursing her babies, and she'll trust you to be able to touch them.
If you are gone when she has the kittens, and she isn't in her box, look in closets, open suitcases, your bed… lol. They will go anyplace comfortable, most often not in the place you've chosen for them. Take precautions by covering those places with an old towel so that she doesn't soil them.
Also, don't handle her kittens to much, or this will cause her to move them to a different place. Cats experiencing their first litter sometimes don't know how to carry the kitten to move them, and the babies get hurt.
Good luck and have fun with your new baby kitties! ^_^

my cat is 6 weeks pregnant
A smaller box would be better. because if you have a big box, a kitten could crawl away and get chilled. with a smaller box mom should be able to keep an eye on all of them. blankets and towels, water [for her, she will get very thirsty], iodine, scissors, cotton balls, fresh water [for you in case you have to clean something off], and a vets number should be available. after mom chews the umbilicle cord off, take the baby and put iodine on the cord so its wont get infected. then put it back so the mom can stimulate it and get it dry. if she just gives up taking care of them after their all out, help her out and rub them with a towel and cut the cord yourself. she should do a good job. all you really have to do is sit back and watch.

my cat has had 2 litters and trust me…they know what to do! So I don't think you have anything to worry about. Defeintly watch to make sure nothing goes wrong and make sure she had a placenta after every kitten! She should do great though. And congrats on that new litter! They are a lot of fun!
Good luck~
