I was wondering if this would help him get used to my smell. He sleeps in a box with my blanket, and he only has two days in this house.

ah thats cute!! My cat moves my clothes arounf the houe when he's lonley. He loves you already. Your smell makes him feel good and safe so thats why he stole your blanket. If you don't mind him sleeping with it, let him keep it.
Of course he could just be testing you to see how far he can go! it might be your sandwich next time!

After he takes your blanket, He will take your pillow, then your bed

it most deffinity will. just being in your house and near you will help him reconise you and your sent. its very import to be social but if he gets upset let him chill ( dont want to over crowd). just make sure he cant eat the blanket

Sure, that's fine! We have done that with each one of our new cats. My husband has a favorite blanket, and he uses it to let the cat get used to his smell. It's so cute now, because every time we go out of town, we have to leave the blanket with the cats now because we found out they like to curl up inside of it when we're not with them!

ahh the blanket…that's alway the first to go. next it's the pillow, then the bed. lol
yeah he feels safe with your smell and so he took your blanket. once he gets used to you more he'll be in the bed with you, between your legs, on your head, chest, back….mine share my pillows with me. and by that i mean they let me use a little corner of it. lol.

This will definitely help him get used to you, and by grabbing it he showed that it is what he wanted…
You could cut it in half, leave one part in his box, and put the other on a chair where you wouldn't mind him napping. That way he'll know what places he is allowed to call his own.
If he gets to really love you…he'll probably end up sleeping on your bed.
My first cat slept on top of the curve of my back until her last day! And the cat I have now goes out at night then comes back in the wee hours, and I find him purring at my feet most mornings! And as long as I don't move, neither does he, but as soon as he sees I'm awake he comes up and starts purring around my ears asking for breakfast!

Hehe. My orange and white cat fell in love with my orange blanket when I brought her home. It got her used to my smell, ect. So in answer to your question the blanket will get her used to your smell. Some people also use an old t-shirt to get the same effect.

For a new kitty, that's great that he is already feeling comfortable with your scent. Cats need to feel secure and letting him use your blanket is perfect for that. It will soon graduate to him sleeping with you on the bed, taking over every possible spot around you. This is very sweet, but soon he'll start to raid your fridge, borrow your car, wear your favorite pair of jeans, rack up long distance charges, hog the remote and pretty much rule the roost. And it all starts with a blanket.
